Established in the pre-liberation era, Panjim Gymkhana has been recognised as one of the oldest and greatest sports clubs in the vicinity of Panaji. It’s very rare to find a sports club located near a river and providing a well-maintained cricket ground for budding cricketers. Our recent makeover is just a step towards achieving greater goals for sports in the state of Goa.
Panjim Gymkhana aims to provide a mix of good sports and leisure activities. The committee has left no stone unturned in its efforts to provide the best infrastructure and facilities for cricket. The Gymkhana is set to have a lush green cricket ground with excellent coaching facilities. The V. G Keni Pavilion currently has the member’s pavilion, dressing rooms and umpires’ room which are built to a class beyond perfection and is comparable to the some of the best sports clubs in the country.
We’ve nurtured some of Goa’s best sportspeople and stalwarts (like late Shri. Madhav Talaulikar and the late Shri. Jaisingh Maganlal). We hope to promote sports with great fervour with our new and improved facilities, making it one of the most exclusive clubs in Goa. Great legends such as Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Chandu Borde, Poly Umrigar, Vijay Merchant, Dilip Sardesai, Farokh Engineer, Budi Kundare, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ramakant Desai, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Abbas Ali Baig, Jaisimha, Eknath Solkar, Ashok Mankad and Sandip Patil have walked these grounds along with Ranji players such as Vijay Bhonsle, Pandurang Salgaonkar and world acclaimed sportsmen.
Smt. Shashikala Kakodkar graced us with her presence and Honourable Chief Minister Shri. Manohar Parrikar inaugrated the newly renovated space on 26th of January, 2018.
